UAE suspends Iranian airlines' flights to and from country
Suspension takes effect immediately and remains open-ended
ABU DHABI – The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has suspended flights operated by Iranian airlines to and from the country, with the measure taking effect on today (Thursday).
The General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) announced the decision as air travel between the UAE and Iran faces new restrictions. The suspension will remain in place until further notice.
The GCAA said the decision was made in light of a US ban imposed on Iranian airlines from using airports in various countries around the world. The authority did not specify a date for the resumption of services operated by Iranian carriers.
The GCAA said it would continue coordinating with relevant authorities and keep the public informed of developments as they arise. Updates will be provided as the authorities assess the situation and work towards the resumption of normal air traffic between the UAE and Iran.
The aviation authority also urged passengers and members of the public to obtain information exclusively through official and authorised sources, particularly while the suspension remains in effect.
